Laura Linney, best known for her strong but vulnerable characters, is one of the most celebrated American actors of our times. Born to a famous playwright's father, and raised by a single mother who made a living as a nurse, she was drawn to theatre when working with her father during the summer and eventually pursuing a degree in acting initially as a student at Brown University and then at Juilliard School. The actress began her Broadway career soon after completing her degree after which she made her debut on television the following year. Over the past few years she has appeared in a variety of films, television productions as well as stage productions. Her achievements have been numerous during her professional career, which included the four Primetime Emmy Awards and two Golden Globe Awards. In spite of numerous awards acting has been her primary passion and she continues to perform both in stage and screen.
